UCAS Personal Statement Review & Feedback Service
Price range: £29.00 through £49.00
Supportive, teacher-led feedback to help your teen submit a personal statement that’s authentic, polished and ready for admissions tutors — without the stress of figuring it all out alone.
Important UCAS deadlines for 2027 entry
If you’re applying through UCAS, please be mindful of the key application deadlines:
• 15 October 2026 (6pm UK time) – Oxford and Cambridge, and most medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine/science courses
• 13 January 2027 (6pm UK time) – Equal consideration deadline for most undergraduate courses
• 25 February 2027 – UCAS Extra opens
• 30 June 2027 (6pm UK time) – Applications received after this point are automatically entered into Clearing
Standard reviews are normally returned within 3–5 working days once I have received your statement and the information needed for your review. Faster and two-stage review options are also available.
Availability may be limited during busy periods, particularly close to UCAS deadlines, so early booking is recommended.
Applying for an October-deadline course? Please allow enough time to receive your feedback, make your own revisions and complete any checks required by your school or college before submitting your application.
Description
Help your teen submit a UCAS personal statement that’s authentic, polished and genuinely their own — with clear, supportive feedback from an experienced teacher.
This service provides personalised, teacher-led feedback on a UCAS Personal Statement draft, written in clear, student-friendly language.
It’s ideal for students who want an experienced second pair of eyes, and for parents who would like some reassurance that their teen is heading in the right direction.
Why choose a human review?
AI tools can be useful when planning and proofreading, but a strong personal statement still needs to sound like the student.
My review focuses on authenticity, clarity, reflection and the student’s individual voice. I won’t rewrite the statement for them or turn it into something that no longer sounds like their work.
Instead, I help students to:
- Strengthen their reflection and personal insight
- Explain why their experiences are relevant
- Identify areas that need more detail or development
- Improve clarity, structure and flow
- Spot repetition or content that isn’t adding enough value
- Polish their writing while keeping their own voice
The aim is to give students the guidance they need to improve their own statement with confidence.
What your teen will receive
A personalised PDF feedback report reviewing their statement against the current UCAS three-question format:
Question 1 – Why do you want to study this course or subject?
Feedback on motivation, subject interest and understanding of the course.
Question 2 – How have your qualifications and studies helped you to prepare?
Feedback on relevant knowledge, skills and academic preparation.
Question 3 – What else have you done to prepare outside education, and why are these experiences useful?
Feedback on wider experiences, super-curricular activities, work experience and, importantly, what the student has learned from them.
The report also includes:
- A clear overview of what is already working well
- Prioritised, actionable improvements so the student knows what to tackle first
- Technical checks for clarity, repetition, grammar and overall flow
- A simple next-steps checklist to work through before submission
Feedback is designed to be useful without becoming overwhelming — the student should finish the review knowing what to do next and why.
Choose the level of support you need
Standard Review – 3–5 working days
A complete written review of the student’s current draft, with clear, prioritised feedback and actionable next steps.
Express Review – 2 working days
The same complete written review, prioritised and returned sooner for students working to a tighter deadline.
Premium Two-Stage Review
Ideal for students who would like support while developing their statement rather than just a single review.
- Stage 1 – Developmental Review
The student receives clear, prioritised feedback on their current draft, with actionable questions and prompts to help them make their own improvements. - Stage 2 – Final Review
After making their changes, the student can submit their revised statement for a second review. I’ll check how the first-round priorities have been addressed and review the overall balance, clarity, repetition, SPaG and final polish.
Stage 2 would normally be submitted within one month of receiving the first review, although I understand that application timelines vary — just get in touch if a little longer is needed.
How it works
- Choose your review type and complete checkout.
- Upload the student’s draft using the secure upload page provided after purchase.
- I’ll personally read and review the statement.
- The personalised feedback report will be sent directly by email within the turnaround time for the service selected.
- Premium customers can then revise their statement and securely submit their updated draft for Stage 2.
Simple, supportive and straightforward.
Supportive feedback — not ghostwriting
This service is about helping a student make their statement stronger, not writing it for them.
I won’t invent experiences, rewrite whole sections or give them a generic “perfect” personal statement. Instead, I’ll help them recognise what is already strong, identify what could be improved and give them practical guidance to make those changes themselves.
That means the finished statement remains authentically theirs.
Who is behind the feedback?
Your student’s statement will be reviewed by Kirsty Hickling, founder of Hickling Hacks.
I have over 16 years’ experience in education, including roles as Head of Science, Head of Chemistry and Head of Post-16, and have supported students applying to university, including competitive courses such as Medicine, Veterinary Science and Oxbridge.
My approach is supportive, practical and honest: I want students to understand how to improve their statement, not simply be told that something needs changing.
Help your teen feel confident about their application
A personal statement doesn’t need to sound perfect or overly polished. It needs to communicate the student’s genuine interest, preparation and experiences clearly.
Sometimes, an experienced second pair of eyes is all they need to see what’s already working — and what to tackle next.
Choose the review option that suits your timescale and level of support above to get started.
This service provides written feedback and guidance on a student’s personal statement. It does not guarantee university interviews, offers or other admissions outcomes.
