Science Explorers – flexible session credits

Science Explorers is for home-educated young people who want to take their science curiosity a little further at the Hickling Hacks Science Hub in Elston.

Wednesdays, 11:00–11:45am

Science Explorers gives students the opportunity to investigate science topics in more depth, develop practical and scientific skills, and build on projects over several sessions.

Unlike Family Science Club, where each week is designed as a standalone science adventure, Science Explorers may follow a theme or investigation across several weeks. Students can explore ideas further, ask their own questions and develop their work through practical investigations, journals and project activities.

Choose your credit package

1 Session Credit
A flexible option for attending an available Science Explorers session.

5 Session Credits
A flexible block for students who would like to take part in a project or attend several Explorer sessions.

10 Session Credits
A larger flexible block for students planning to attend regularly and explore projects in greater depth.

One credit books one Science Explorers session for one student.

How booking works

1. Choose the number of session credits you’d like to purchase.
2. Complete checkout.
3. New families can create a Hickling Hacks Parent Portal account using the link in their confirmation email. Existing families can simply log in.
4. Kirsty will manually add the purchased credits to your Parent Portal account.
5. Use your credits to reserve the available Wednesday Science Explorers sessions you’d like to attend.

Purchasing credits does not guarantee availability on a particular date. Please reserve your chosen sessions through the Parent Portal.

If you’re hoping to attend at short notice or on the same day, you’ll find WhatsApp contact details in your confirmation email so I can check availability and book you into a slot if there is space.

A few useful details

Science Explorers is designed for young people who would like to go beyond a one-off science activity and investigate ideas in more detail.

Because projects can develop over several sessions, attending regularly will help students get the most from the programme. However, the flexible credit system means families can choose the dates that work for them.

Current projects and themes will be shared with families so you can see what we’re exploring and choose suitable sessions.

Children remain the responsibility of their accompanying parent/carer in line with the current Hickling Hacks Home Education Hub arrangements.

Credits offer flexibility to choose your dates, but unused credits are subject to the current Hickling Hacks Home Education terms and conditions.

Science Explorers session credits and bookings are subject to the Hickling Hacks Home Education Hub Terms & Conditions 2026–27.
