Bring along a pre-carved pumpkin ready for some messy Halloween science. Your booking also includes the My Pumpkin Investigation activity to complete while carving — bring the finished sheet along to claim a mystery science prize!

Get ready for some messy Halloween science!
Puking Pumpkins is a special hands-on Halloween event from the Hickling Hacks Science Hub. Children will bring along their own pre-carved pumpkin and use it as part of a fun science practical.

Date: Friday 23 October 2026
Time: 11:00am–12:00pm
Venue: Scout Hall, Lovers Lane, Newark
Price: £7 per participating child
Places: Maximum 25 participating children
Suitable for: All ages welcome. The activity is best suited to children aged 7+; younger children are very welcome but will need some hands-on support from their accompanying adult.
Parents can book places for more than one child — simply select the number of child places you need when adding the event to your basket.
Before the event
Each booking includes a free downloadable My Pumpkin Investigation activity.
Children can complete this one-page investigation while carving their pumpkin at home, then bring both their pre-carved pumpkin and their completed investigation sheet to the event.
Bring your completed sheet and you can claim a mystery science prize!

After checkout, you’ll receive a link to a short attendee information and consent form. This collects the information I need to run the practical safely, including allergies, medical/accessibility/additional needs, practical consent and photography permission.
Your booking is not fully confirmed until this form has been completed.
If you are booking for more than one participating child, please provide the requested information for each child.

Cancellations & changes
If your plans change, please contact me as soon as possible.
Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the event will be refunded. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the event are non-refundable, as materials will already have been purchased and prepared.
Places should not be transferred to another child without contacting me first, as I need accurate attendee information and consent for every participating child. If the event is full, there may also be a waiting list for the place.
